Dear Friends,

Angkor Wat, Cambodia Spiritual Journey

Angkor Wat, Cambodia - Incredible!

What’s new? Volunteerism. David Ault is inviting a group of people with him to Cambodia to help manifest his dream! And JOTS is so excited to be sponsoring this journey. With more than 1 out of 6 Cambodian children dying before the age of 5, the need for training in basic hygiene, the ability to have fresh water, agricultural and trade skill training, along with a simple educational platform is crucial. To be among the Cambodians is to discover a people resilient and willing, in spite of the genocide and violent regime that claimed the lives of millions as recent as the mid 1970′s.

Visit the ruins of Angkor Wat and have the opportunity to give of yourself with a open heart. You may find yourself teaching children, looking for a place to drill a new water well, or scouting out a place to build a new school for the children.

That said, please join David ANGKOR WAT, CAMBODIA: Unconditional Love in Action – Jan 22-Feb 1. The pricing for this journey is great at $1899.00 including breakfast, teachings, volunteering with the children, and tours of the grand ruins of Angkor Wat.

Virgin of Guadalupe

Experience the energy of the Virgin de Guadalupe and the Pyramids of Teotihuacan, Mexico Dec 8-13th!

**AS A REMINDER: Sign-up is NOW for TEOTIHUACAN, MEXICO: Reclaiming Our Power and Faith ($1299.00 pp double occ), and MAYAN RIVIERA: Merging With The Divine Presence ($1995.00 pp double occ).

MAYAN RIVIERA: Merging With The Divine Presence – Jan 8-14th, 2011
Deeksha Oneness Blessing

Relax, affirm, and awaken with Charlene M. Proctor! Join her for daily deeksha/oneness blessings, meditations, and oneness teachings in the some of the most sacred sites in Mexico. To fully realize unity with the Divine, we must look within for our truth, a truth that respects our individuality but recognizes that the same divine light lives in everyone.

You’ll enjoy many blessings throughout the week, relax deeply, and enjoy quiet contemplation and nourishing food at the Akal-ki Holistic Spa (plus their spa services if you like!). Ancient meditation practices will be given throughout the week to help you open, balance and clear your energy centers (chakras), your energy channels (nadis), and activate your kundalini. We’ll  have the opportunity to each create a prayer mala and bless it at the pyramids here – and visit the beautiful sacred sites of the southern Yucatan (Sheri will be joining Charlene on this trip)! You’ll return home feeling rested, centered, and more at peace with your inner and outer world. The 2011 trip cost is: $1995.00 USD per person double occupancy. Details for the Yucatan here!

ANGKOR WAT, CAMBODIA: Unconditional Love in Action – Jan 23-Feb 1
Angkor Wat, Cambodia Spiritual Journey

Join New Thought Minister Rev. David Ault for a profoundly heart-opening spiritual journey of service to Siem Reap, Cambodia – home of the incredible ancient temples of Angkor Wat. To open oneself deeply, to risk feeling the suffering of others, and to wish to relieve that suffering – is the definition of compassion and the cultivation of the Buddha within us. As Gandhi once said: The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.

Service is often called unconditional love in action – to give totally of yourself is to be free of ego, 100% present, doing what is needed without judgment. In these moments our heart opens and the truth of who we are comes through – our divine presence. We’ll also have the opportunity to explore the amazing temple complex at Angkor Wat – or at least a part of it! Built in the 12th century, Angkor Wat lies north of the modern town of Siem Reap and is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. 2011 trip cost is: $18995.00 USD per person double occupancy, breakfasts included. Details for Cambodia here!

Last night I watched the cutest movie – The Tale of Despereaux, about a brave and honorable little mouse. Sometimes the most powerful messages are found in the simplest of stories – this one included. Despereaux, a small but unusual mouse, cannot understand why all the other mice are so afraid of everything – over and over again he is reprimanded for his inability to fear cats, cower, and scurry. Early in the movie the school-master states that we don’t start out afraid, they must be taught to be  properly afraid – indeed! (Scroll up to watch the video on the right –>)

Tale of Despereaux

Watching the movie it seems obvious that it is utter silliness to cower and hide – life is magical when you get out there even if the situations you are challenged by are a bit scary. We can see how adventurous life is for Despereaux and how fulfilled he is.

How many of us can say the same?

If we don’t feel passionate, excited and challenged by life then why bother living? Someone had to teach you exactly what to be afraid of in life and you took that to be truth. Since then you have lived your life in some level of fear, never fully expressing your integrity and purpose in life.

I never realized how afraid humans were until I began to examine my own justifications for all the things I avoided doing in my life. I came to realize how creative I was at avoiding all the experiences I judged to be painful, stressful, overwhelming, too much effort, over the top, time consuming, etc. The number of excuses I had were infinite. Well no longer.

As an example of what I am sharing, and because my focus has been on travel, I have had the opportunity to hear every excuse known to man not to travel these days. I cannot tell you how many people tell me it is dangerous to travel to Mexico, Israel, South America, Europe, etc., the list goes on. But according to whom?

Not traveling to Central Mexico or the Yucatán is like not flying to Texas because someone got robbed in NYC. Israel – is probably one of the safer places to be these days with more military presence than most places! But we hear things and we immediately get scared and create an excuse due to the danger. Well let’s wake up to the fact that it’s dangerous everywhere if you want to see it that way. You take your chances in any urban city in the US as much as you do in any foreign country.

Tale of Despereaux

So what’s really going on here? Again, you have to be taught to be afraid, to change your direction in life because of something you hear, or something you read in the paper. It may be a long time before the world becomes a more compassionate and safe place and if you are going to hide within the borders of the good old USA – truly you may be fooling yourself. Yes, you have the illusion of safety because everything around you here is familiar. However familiarity is NOT safety – it is simply smoke and mirrors.

I am passionate about new and unusual experiences that inspire and change me. That’s what life is all about. If you are hiding behind familiarity, maybe it is time to be honest with yourself. That goes not only for travel but for long worn out marriages, uninspiring jobs, old irritating friendships, or any situation you find yourself in that is way too comfortable. Fear in any shape or form is not your friend. And if it is your intent to live your life in love, that intent begins with loving yourself enough to get out of your old routines and start taking chances. Meet new humans, stop cowering and definitely stop scurrying away from experiences that scare you. After all, if a little mouse can be so brave, so can you!

With all my love, Sheri

Dreaming Down Heaven

Dreaming Down Heaven

Two sumptuous books in one, Dreaming Down Heaven by Gini Gentry begins with the fictional quest of Gigi Lenox, a once together New Yorker whose world has just come spectacularly undone. But instead of using retail therapy to ease the pain, Gigi embarks on a spiritual journey through a mystical world of magical encounters, tests and miracles. Inspired by a mysterious guidebook authored by Maya, universal Goddess of Illusion, and based on the fundamental wisdom gleaned in the authors real-life awakening, Gigi discovers self-mastery and a joyful awareness of life. The reader will, too.

This story will resonate with the vast audience of contemporary women and men who are searching for authenticity amid the distracting demands of modern life. Through the voice of her sometimes bewildered, but often funny and always determined protagonist, Gentry makes the esoteric utterly accessible. Pick up a copy today: Dreaming Down Heaven. Angkor Wat, Cambodia Spiritual Journey

My previous business had me traveling on a regular basis to South East Asia, especially Northern Thailand and the Philippines. While traveling I always made sure to spend some down time, experiencing the sights, sounds and energy of the places. After a few journeys I had immersed myself into the culture enough to feel like I belonged there.

Especially powerful and profound were my regular visits to a local orphanage for children born with AIDS. I was able to visit a little boy I had been sponsoring for several years and I still remember his beautiful smile and his joy when I came to visit bearing gifts.

Even though we didn’t speak each other’s language, we played together, had a wonderful time and created a life-long bond in my heart. This child was in the hospital so often yet he exuded so much life and hope – a true lesson to me. You can imagine how said I was to learn that he had passed away – but grateful and filled with joy to have shared those few precious moments with him.

Many of those children are now on AIDS medications and are asymptomatic – but no matter what their outcome, they are loved and taken care of mostly by volunteers, some of them spending years there.

Because of my personal experience, I was thrilled to see our journey to Cambodia this January 23rd- February 1st – a journey of love, service and the opportunity to experience one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Angkor Wat. To see love in action and be in service will fill your heart and soul. I guarantee you will never forget your experience there. The children’s smiles will remain in your dreams and soul forever, even if you are unable to return in the future.

Angkor Wat, Cambodia Spiritual Journey

I know that my journeys to the orphanage in Northern Thailand made a difference in my life – it has changed the way I raise my 9 year old son and the way I perceive him. It is truly a gift we give to others when we love and serve them, a gift that comes back to us multiplied by the joy and love we feel in every cell of our bodies.

I encourage you to explore a volunteer travel experience – you won’t regret it! Call or e-mail me if I can help in any way!

With love & blessings, Ales Stuna, Director of Custom Travel

Take a moment to watch this video!

It is said that when you educate a girl in Africa, everything changes, that you educate a nation. Healing Bridges was created in 2007 as a means to facilitate refugees in Eastern Sudan with basic living necessities. It is amazing what they have accomplished in just 3 years – an actual school for the education of girls! They have focused on education for the children as a means of breaking the cycle of poverty and providing them with a means to succeed. This really resonates with me as we are supporting David Ault building his school for children in Cambodia. With education can people have the ability to think for themselves, to make better choices and to create their dreams.

Zebiba Shekhia, founder of Healing Bridges, was born and raised in the East African country of Eritrea. Witnessing atrocities during the war and fleeing as a refugee herself strengthened her resolve to one day make a difference. Zebiba has dedicated her life to helping her countrymen who are today still living in refugee camps in Eastern Sudan. She has vowed to help educate the children of the camps giving them an opportunity to advance far beyond their current situation in the camps and even beyond Eastern Sudan. Visit Healing Bridges today.

Words of Wisdom for the Heart

Peuma Hue, Pategonia

To qualify for the discount for Patagonia, Argentina - you must sign up by November 1st!

“Where is thought? It can never be seen or even apprehended. It is like a magical illusion, for with imagination it colors the world. Searching for thought, unable to see it, a person looks for its origin. And it seems to be that where there is an object thought arises. Thought does not arise without an object. Can thought look at thought? No. Just as the blade of a sword cannot cut itself, or a fingertip touch itself, so thought cannot see thought.”
