Dear Friends,

WHAT’S NEW? The Ten Yamas – A Guide for “Right Living”

One of the aspects of my spiritual path that I enjoy the most is the exploration of our many sacred religions, philosophies and teachings. I feel that only learning about your own religion or tradition can be very limiting, leading to a narrow perspective and lack of compassion for others.

In this week’s newsletter – facilitator, author and spiritual teacher Ernesto Ortiz shares with us a wonderful article highlighting the Hindu code of living. I love these 10 Yamas – I find them to be a great practical guide for living life, something that anyone can understand and put into practice. I hope you feel the same way too! Do let me know by posting at the bottom of our newsletter.

The greater purpose of the Yamas is to obtain a compassionate death of the ego or “lower self,” leading to an open heart and enlightened mind. Something we could all use these days!

Forgiveness! Uncensored, Demystified, & Absolutely Obtainable!

Well – I’ve been hinting that I have something special launching for the past few weeks and it’s FINALLY here!

I’m passionate about forgiveness because without it – we cannot reach our ultimate potential in our life.

Why? Simple. Your energy is tied up in maintaining a painful mental structure and ultimately it will not allow your heart to open to its true fullness. So in the end – we punish ourselves.

Even if you feel you don’t have anyone you need to forgive – I bet you know someone who does. Would you consider letting them know about this program and passing the link along to them? I would appreciate it! Let’s start a forgiveness movement today that changes the world!

If you’re ready to make a difference in your life, join me for a 4 video free forgiveness series RIGHT NOW!

Ten Qualities to Cultivate for a Successful Life!

I’d like to share with you today ten key qualities I feel it is critical to possess in order to be happy, spiritual and successful, and to live our lives to the fullness of our personal potential. Live them and teach them to your children, and share them with others. ♥

  1. Positive Self-Concept: The confidence that one is a radiant, magnificent, immortal soul worthy of a wonderful life. Giving constructive encouragement and refraining from denigrating remarks or actions, even when correcting misbehavior, creating habits in our lives that nurture this image, learning how to control our previous programming and change our relationship with life. Feeling the radiant Self worth that is within us all.

  2. Perceptive Self-Correction: The ability to quickly draw the lesson from each experience and resolve how not to repeat one’s mistakes. Teaching that mistakes are not bad develops this quality; they are opportunities to learn and refine our behavior.

  3. Powerful Self-Control: The restraint of destructive emotions, such as anger, jealousy, greed, altered ego, when tempted to express them. This is cultivated by example and by referring often to the ten restrains taught in Hinduism known as the Yamas, finding illustrations of them in daily life.

  4. create-courage

    • Ahimsa: Non-violence. Abstinence from injury, harmlessness, the not causing of pain to any living creature in thought, word, or deed at any time. This is the “main” Yama. The other nine are there in support of its accomplishment.
    • Satya: truthfulness, word and thought in conformity with the facts.
    • Achaurya: non-stealing, non-coveting, non-entering into debt.
    • Brahmaacharya: Divine conduct, restrain, faithful in relationship.
    • Kshama: patience, releasing time, functioning in the now, ability to be present.
    • Dhriti: steadfastness, overcoming non-perseverance, fear, and indecision; seeing each task through to completion.
    • Daya: compassion; conquering the hardening of the self, cruel and insensitive feelings toward all beings.
    • Arjava: honesty, straightforwardness, renouncing deception and wrongdoing.
    • Mitahara: moderate appetite, neither eating too much nor too little; maintaining a healthy diet. Avoid the consumption of heavy meats.
    • Shaucha: purity, avoidance of impurity in body, mind and speech.
  5. Profound Self-Confidence: The dignity that endows an individual confronted with a difficult task the certainty that he or she can accomplish it. This is cultivated by helping a child from the early stages of life to gradually accomplish more and more difficult tasks.

  6. Playful Self-Contentment: A disposition that is fun loving, happy, satisfied. This is developed by living and verbalizing the adventure that life is meant to be. To learn to live life joyously, spending fun time together, satisfied with what we have, not dissatisfied over what we lack.

  7. Sacred or Devotional Character: Abidance in the higher nature, treating others with kindness and appreciation, and seeking the blessings of God, Gods and guru. It is cultivated by worship regularly, meditating and prayer.

  8. buddha-shadows

Proficiency in Conflict Resolution: The knack of resolving disagreements using intelligence and seeking a win-win situation. It is cultivated by example and situation teaching demonstrating how intelligence is superior to violence in dealing with conflict.

  9. Parental and Love Relationship Closeness: An eagerness to spend time with loved ones because of an enduring bond of love and understanding. This propensity is developed by sharing quality time together, expressing love—hugging and saying often the three magic words “I love you,” and by positive, methods of reinforcement.

  10. Prejudice-Free Consciousness: An open-mindedness that readily embraces differences in ethnic background and religion. It is cultivated by living and teaching that the whole world is our family and all beings are divine, by discussing prejudices, mixing with those of other backgrounds and eliminating bigoted remarks or ethnic generalizations.

  11. Gratitude: To be able to look at what life brings us as a wonderful way of learning, with that the opportunity to grow and be better to share with our loved ones and the world with appreciation. To demonstrate our gratitude to everyone for what we have and for what we don’t have. To be grateful for life itself.

I hope that these 10 qualities are reinforced in your life and that these words help bring you love, happiness and an enlightened mind.

Om Shanti, Ernesto

Noted artist, author, and healer, Ernesto Ortiz has devoted his life to exploring and communicating the language of the heart, primal movement and deep inner spaces. Over the past 25 years, Ernesto has taken thousands of people on a journey from physical and emotional inertia to the freedom of ecstasy, from the chaos of the chattering ego-mind to the blessed emptiness of stillness and inner silence.

**Join Ernesto October 14-20th, 2012 in the serene and rejuvenating setting of The Goddess Garden located in the town of Cahuita, a small community in the south of Costa Rica, 40 km south of Puerto Limon. Cahuita National Park is the main attraction here, where you can watch White Faced Monkeys, Howler monkeys, Iguanas and more, just a few steps away from its white sand beach. His intent for this retreat, “Mayan Vibrational Alignment for 2012” is to start creating a shift in our personal vibrational frequency to align our personal Chakras with the Planetary Chakras.

Rewind while you unwind, bring your spirit into wholeness, re-connect with your Shamanic and Sacred Selves, and become vibrationally alive as you supercharge your four lower bodies (mental, emotional, physical and spiritual) with cosmic energy as this vibrational shift ends and a new one awakens. This is an opportunity for you to consciously let go of all you have accumulated, not only in this lifetime, but all the lifetimes you have lived in the last cosmic cycle of 26,000 years.
