Guatemala: Unconditional Love in Action

October 19th – 29th, 2019

An Inspiring and Heartwarming Journey with the
Kaleidoscope Child Foundation

With its dramatic, volcano-studded horizons, lush forests and cobblestone streets, Guatemala is an iconic destination for anyone craving beauty, culture and spirit.

Many feel that the heart of Guatemala is Lago de Atitlan (Lake Atitlan), the majestic waterway where many villages and towns have grown and thrived. Most notably is Panajachel, the busiest Mayan settlements where we will spend most of our time on this journey of living in service.

New on this year’s trip, will be an overnight near the Tikal National Park, a major site of Mayan Civilization which was inhabited from the 6th century B.C. to the 10th century A.D. We will have a wonderful time discovering the ceremonial centre which contains amazing temples and palaces as well as remains of dwellings in the surrounding countryside.

Panajachel is where Kaleidoscope Child Foundation has created an exciting alliance with Jabel Tinamit School one of the finest immersion language schools throughout the country.

Highlights of Our Unforgettable Journey…

Kaleidoscope proudly joined forces with its founders Candalaria and Gregorio Garcia in 2017 and has delivered more than 100  fresh water filter dispensaries to Gautemalan village families, created medical mission days, book drives and worked on building learning centers. Details of our 2019 service opportunities with both local villages and students are being strategically worked out for current needs.

The 2019 group will work on a variety of initiative based projects with focus on literacy, health and leadership to the innumerable rural villagers engaged in quality of life improvement programs.

Juxtaposed with this meaningful work will be our stay in the Porta Hotel Del Lago. Framed by lush gardens and breathtaking views of Lake Atitlán and Guatemala’s three majestic volcanoes – Volcán San Pedro, Volcán Atitlán and Volcán Tolimán – the hotel offers a truly majestic home base for your time here in Panajachel. You’ll find a tranquil, intimate and warm boutique hotel overlooking lake waters just steps from the town main attractions, shopping and restaurants. Here, the rich comforts of a modern hotel blend seamlessly with authentic Guatemalan design and décor to create a truly unique ambience.

From the hotel it is only a 15 – 20 minutes walk through the quaint streets of Panajachel to the school where you will be doing your volunteer work. Alternatively it is also easy to arrange a tricycle to take you there each day.
