WHAT’S NEW? Happy Labor Day!

As August wraps up we quickly approach Labor Day- a signal of summer’s end, to many Americans.  Though we often celebrate Labor Day many of us are unfamiliar with it’s origins, so I thought I’d share an excerpt from the Department of Labor’s website:

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”

For generations people have worked hard to make this country the best it can be. May you think of them this holiday weekend and challenge yourself to think of the impact you’re making.

Blessings & love, Sheri

OUR FEATURED ARTICLE

The Pursuit of Happiness?

We invest a lot of money and time in the pursuit of happiness. We buy pretty things to decorate our homes, spend time with friends and family, and go on vacations to relax, but something is still missing.

We have hectic, stressful lives that we don’t know how to change, as we have no role models for a different kind of life. It’s like one big insane asylum with billions of people searching for something that seems to remain elusive no matter how hard we try.

The problem is that we’re looking outside of us for the solution.

We keep trying to change everything out there, to make it better and better. But it isn’t what’s out there that needs to be addressed; instead, the agreements we have with ourselves that drive the choices we make. All of our answers lie deep within the programming of our minds.

By having clarity, we can see the beliefs that are contributing to the creation of drama, stress and suffering in our lives and in society. This is the prison that can keep us trapped in unfulfilling, treadmill-type lives. Just because everyone else is living this way doesn’t mean we have to follow suit.

Leave your hectic life for a few minutes, take a walk in the sunshine, and ask yourself what drama (in your own mind) you can eliminate from your life and what actions you can take right now to make your life better!

With all my love! Sheri
