Each one of us has an opportunity to touch this world with their love, light, and presence. One such angel was Millie Munoz. Many of you have had to chance to meet her and have been touched by her big heart. Sadly, she passed away a few Sundays’ ago, but the mark she made on our lives was deep and true.
August 19th was World Humanitarian Day. As a celebration of all the humanitarian work across the globe, a unique event featuring Beyoncé was held at the UN General Assembly in New York on August 10th to inspire people to leave their mark on the world.

Are You Getting the Help You Need?
I recently had an interesting revelation that made me think deeply about the way we value ourselves. I was talking to an absolutely lovely woman on the phone who was interested in coming to Florida to have a personal intensive. For those of you who are not familiar – this is a three day experience for folks who want to change their thinking, direction, get clear, and follow their passion in life.
We were having a great conversation until we started talking about the cost of the program. She let me know that she never spends money on herself, but does feel comfortable spending the same money on the loved ones in her life. It was obvious in that moment that she would not be participating in an intensive. It was also obvious that she did not value her life enough to make it a priority. She was unhappy – but she hadn’t suffered enough to want to spend money on her own well-being.
Wow – upon hearing that I realized that I’ve always been careful with my money – but at the same time I’ve never had an issue investing in myself and certainly never denied myself the chance to better myself. There is an old saying that says: If momma ain’t happy, nobody’s happy! And that’s the darn truth.
While that woman is busy being a martyr, her unhappiness is permeating her family and dragging them down. I would bet if they knew what she was thinking of doing they would encouraged her to go for it. She thought she was being selfish spending the money on herself when in fact she was being selfish staying unhappy and having her family have to suffer her depression.
One of the most important things I have learned is that we must keep expanding our knowledge or we will fall behind in life. This applies in all directions in life – business and personal. We all need help in life. I know I’m not an island. I don’t know everything. And even if I did – by next year my knowledge would be obsolete and so would I!
The key is to value yourself deeply and take advantage of new learning opportunities, coaching, and online classes. There is no excuse to go without assistance on your spiritual path, in your business, in your hobbies, and in your relationships.
When I started my spiritual path I studied with don Miguel Ruiz for eight years. I spent A LOT of money learning from him – more than I paid for my medical school. It was worth EVERY penny. Last year I took a year-long business coaching course to get me up to speed with new marketing techniques and technology. This year I’ve been taking a great business course in social media – very enlightening!
Successful people are not afraid to get help, and have no fear of investing in themselves – and neither should you. If you spend more on the grand-kids than yourself – that’s an issue. If you spend more in a year on clothes, dinners out and other expendables – perhaps it’s time to look at that. In these crazy days of uncertain economic times – NOW is the time to invest even MORE in yourself.
The past two years I have invested more in my business and myself than when the economy was better. And for good reason. I need to learn how to work more efficiently and smarter – not harder. If I want to have a successful and abundant life I must spend the money on myself to be able to make that money back ten-fold. That means making sure I am living my passion fully and effectively.
So I have a question to leave you with – if we’re not the best investment in our own lives – for goodness sake who or what is?

Dear Sheri, I look forward to receiving your newsletters. They always inspire me, some more than others. Today was one of the most inspirational.
First, I am sad to hear of Millie’s passing. We had a few email exchanges & were friends on facebook. She was a beautiful person & is a beautiful Spirit. She left love in the world we would not have known without her.
Secondly, thank you for sharing the World Humanitarian day “I was here” website. I placed a pin for where I live & shared what I am doing to make positive changes locally. It is important for us to be focused on the positive in the world during our “re-birth”.
Thirdly, I have been contemplating moving forward in a program to boost my business to the next level but have had fears about spending the money. My inner voice has been urging me to sign up. Hmmm mind versus Intent. lol Anyway, your post has inspired me to move forward.
